games are easier today because people stop playing them until the end (Only 40% on average get to the end of solo-games.) In order not to be discouraged (too many different games), company had to find way to have a shorter times between objective (micro transaction works as well) for that dopamine shot. That's why games are easier, auto save every minutes , and (new) objective every 2 min. Otherwise you got bored and get on another game that provide those shots more efficiently. It's kind of shitty and that's why some companies says the genre (solo game) is dead or dying. Multiplayer on the other hand (BR for exemple) provide entertainment, reward, huge replayability, small game window(15min for a BR) with a mediocre amount of content.

That's a 20 years different in gaming. What about for the last 5 years? $60 full game with great dlcs vs $60 part of the game, pay more to get additional save file, to be better than eberyone, and to actually see the ending.

The only reason i like ark survival evolved is because it doesnt have an objective. You just do what you do. Have 1 save file sorts. And its a hell of a grind to get anywhere good

To that I say - everything in moderation. Both too little and too much can get annoying really fast. At least in the past they had the excuse of being limited by the HW and SW of the time. Now they just slap auto-generated crap and call it content.
